This is a big day for Stella and also for me, because at 35 dog-years-old, she is officially the oldest lady in the house! I like to think that I'm still in charge, but I'm not actually sure that's ever been the case. Anyway, Carson and I decided to celebrate by subjecting Stella to a birthday hat and then giving ourselves cake. (ha ha ha... because I'm the boss, Stella, that's why!) We also gave Stella a little squeaky ball that Carson picked out, and, of course, she promptly chewed it beyond recognition.
Here's Stella, being a sport about the birthday hat as long as there's something tasty to chew on. (The hat is next.)
Carson loves the hats. He's wearing several himself! (You might be able to make out the borders of a gold hat underneath the red one, although the photo is a little blurry.)

Lest you think all of our days involve such heavily planned activities, here is a picture of what Carson is usually doing at this time of day. (still in pajamas).

And just for fun, here is a picture of Carson at the Ft Worth Botanic Gardens, enjoying the hibiscus so much that he had to push his sunglasses up on his head.
